Google says the following about their new app which will first launch to beta:
Currents is a G Suite app that enables people to have meaningful discussions and interactions across your organization, helping keep everyone in the know and giving leaders the opportunity to connect with their employees.

Compared to Google+, the Currents app has a new look, feel and set of features which you can learn more about in the video below.
If your organization has been using Google+ previously, all of your existing content will automatically move over to the Currents app.
